Thanks to everyone who made this year such a successful show. There were lots of beautiful quilts on display, great vendors, and some wonderful guests who came to view it all!
Thanks as well to to the North Augusta Arts Council for their support of our show and to the North Augusta Activities Center at Riverview Park for all the hard work they do that makes putting this show on possible.

The quilts are up, Ribbons awarded, and vendors are ready. Doors open tomorrow at 9:00!
Best of show went to Judy Lockhart for her hand appliqued and machine pieced Lollypop quilt.

Judging of the quilts for the "Quilting on the River" show went on for most of the day today. Lots of beautiful quilts are making the judging difficult!

Make sure to come by the show this Friday and Saturday and see them for yourself!

Four more days until the Pieceful Hearts Quilts Show - Quilting on the River.

In the next few days guild members will be very busy over at the North Augusta Activities Center at Riverview Park. Tonight members will drop off their show quilts. Tuesday morning judging will begin. We have a lot of quilts and a lot of categories to get through! Wednesday Judging continues while the set-up crew puts up the quilt stands and readies the show area. And if that isn't enough activity...on Thursday the quilts are hung and the vendors set up. Friday morning at 10:oo the doors open...hope to see you there!

Quilt show update

Registration forms are in and we have over 200 quilts per-registered! Our judge this year is Susan Edmonson from North Carolina and if guild meeting "show and tell" is any indicator she has her job cut out for her.

We have some great vendors lined up. Something for everyone....

The quilt registration forms went out with the March newsletter. There are some new categories this year including "First Show" for some of our new quilters and several Professional categories for the quilt teachers and long-arm quilters in our guild. As with our other shows expect to see a wide range of styles and techniques!

Our demonstrations committee is putting together a program for each day so there should be plenty to see!

Show Postcards Arrived!

Postcards announcing the show arrived this week from the printer. They look great! We used the quilt that was awarded "Best Use of Color" in our last show on the postcard. The cards will go out in the mail to guilds in Georgia and the Carolinas in May. We will also send "stacks" to our vendors so they can give them to their customers over the summer.

(We used postcardprinting.com or these cards and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience.)

Starting to get busy....

Just a bit over 7 months until the show. While that may seem like a long time those of you who have put on shows in the past know this it is time to get busy!

Our advertising postcards went to the printer today. Each year we have such wonderful quilts but not as big an attendance as we should so this year we are really going to put the word out and see if we can't double (yes, double!) the attendance from our last show. First step was getting out postcards professionally done. So far the printer we are using has been really good to work with...I'll let you know!

Also our vendor coordinator says the contracts for the vendors went out this week. She has verbal commitments from several and it looks like we will have a good variety. (Because what is a quilt show without quilting stuff to carry home!)

Date Change!

Due to a conflict with both the Georgia Show and the South Carolina State Quilter's retreat at White Oak we are moving the date of the Pieceful Heart's Quilt show back one week to the 14th and 15th of October.

Note: Date for the Pieceful Hearts Quilt Show has been moved to Oct 14 and 15th. Same times and place.

Take out your calendar and block off the ___and ___ of October 2011 for the next Pieceful Hearts Quilters Show. It will be held at the North Augusta Activities Center (directions are on the sidebar.) This is a judged show, with vendor, silent auction, and an opportunity quilt that supports Camp Rainbow. Like past guild shows expect to see a wide variety of quilting styles on exhibit!

The theme for the show will be announced at the guild's September meeting.

Thanks to everyone for a great show last October. Our next show will be in October of 2011. The dates and theme of the show should be announced soon. Amazing how quickly the months fly between shows!

Quilt Show Set up

The past two days the quilters of Pieceful Hearts have been working hard to get the gym at North Augusta Activities Center ready for their quilt show. All the quilts have been turned in and several areas are already to view. Judges quilts have been staged for the judge to work on today (which will be a very difficult job since there are some really stunning quilts in that group!) Nonjudged quilts were hung last night as well as the two challenges: Breast Cancer Awareness Bra Challenge and the Orphan Block recycle Challenge. The creativeness of the this group never ceases to amaze me...

Registration forms are in!

During our September meeting last Saturday member of the guild handed in their registration forms for the the quilt show and as hoped it was quite a stack!

One of the strengths of this guild is the variety of techniques - everything from heavily embellished "postcards" to historic reproduction quilts will be on display at the Activities center show. A quick look at the registration forms and this show will be playing to our guild's strength and should have something for everyone!

If you are visiting the area there are some other activities that weekend you may be interested in seeing. At the new North Augusta Heritage Center the guild will be displaying about 20 bed-size quilts. Admission is $3. and includes a dislplay by the local fine art guild.

Six months and counting

Pieceful Hearts Quiltshow, "Quilting across the ages" is only six months away! May sound like a long time to some of you but in Quilting-years that is almost tomorrow.

So this is the time to get serious. The categories have been decided upon so the registration forms can be printed up and distributed at the May meeting. In the past we have had over 200 items. It would be nice to do more than that this time!
The challenge has also been selected. A few months ago a box of vintage blocks were donated to the guild. What a great jumping off point for an "across the ages" challenge. The blocks were washed, pressed and put into unmarked bags. You see none of the blocks are alike so we didn't want there to be any advantage to those who selected first or worse a "Filenes basement wedding dress sale free for all!" The Dresdan plate block above is a sample of the quilt blocks available.

The directions are simple - using the block in the bag as a starting point or inspiration make a quilt or quilted item less than 24 inches across. Pretty simple aye?!

Pieceful Hearts Quilters 2009 Show

Pieceful Hearts Quilters will hold their 2009 show on October 16th and 17th at the North Augusta Activities Center, 100 Riverview Park Drive, North Augusta, SC 29841.

Pieceful Hearts Quit Guild has about 70 members whose work represents a wide range of styles and techniques. On display will be everything from traditional bed quilts to heavily embellished wall hangings (and everything in between!) If one technique catches your eye check out the demonstrations program and you may have the chance to see just how it is done.

There will be many vendors on hand with quilting and sewing related items. If making it yourself isn't in your plans then make your way over to the members table where handmade items will be sold or the silent auction table. Tickets will be available for the Civil War Sampler Donation quilt. All proceeds benefit Camp Rainbow - this is a camp for children with severe illnesses.
