At our Joint Meeting today the 2015 Show Challenge Member's Choice Ribbon was awarded. There are some great quilts in this "Howe do you take your quilt?" challenge. Members made either a traditional, modern or art quilt using three colors: teal, peach, and purple.
This scrappy log cabin star was made by Patty Lennon.
All the quilt for the challenge will be on display at the show in November!

2015 Show!
This week we had a great meeting to get ready for our 2015 Quilt Show! As usual we have lots of great vendors, beautiful quilts, and lots of item on the members table and silent auction.
We will pull the name for out 2015 Camp Rainbow Donation Quilt at this show. (Luckily we still have some time time to get the binding on!)

Judging begins tomorrow!
Two years of planning and somehow the date still sneaks up on us! Tonight members will be dropping off quilts at the North Augusta Activities Center so that judging can begin at 0900 Tuesday. The show will be hung on Wednesday and Thursday so the doors can open Friday at 10!
At last count there will be 25 Bonnie Hunter inspired quilts on display...a nice number since the guild is celebrating our 25th anniversary!

10 days until the show!
Hard to believe the show is less than two weeks away! Registration forms are in and on Monday the quilts will be turned in to the show committee. One week from today the judge starts her job judging the quilts and awarding ribbons! It will be a tough job...lots of beautiful quilts to choose from...
Also, the binding was finished on our 2014 Donation Quilt (photo above) that debuts at the show. Proceeds from this quilt to to Camp Rainbow, a medical camp for children with cancer.
So plan to come on by the show on Friday the 11th or Saturday the 12th! Times, directions, and all the logistics "stuff" is on our sidebar!

Special Exhibit at this Year's Show
"Smith Mountain"
Bonnie Hunter, and internationally known quilt teacher, was at one time a member of our quilt guild. As part of our show this year we will have over 25 quilts made by member our guild that were inspired by Bonnie! This will include several made during Bonnie's annual online "Quiltville Mystery Quilt," several from her published books, and some made using her scrappy "leader and ender" system.

Quilt Show Registration Forms...
The quilt registration forms went out with the March newsletter. There are some new categories this year including "First Show" for some of our new quilters and several Professional categories for the quilt teachers and long-arm quilters in our guild. As with our other shows expect to see a wide range of styles and techniques!

Our demonstrations committee is putting together a program for each day so there should be plenty to see!

Show Postcards Arrived!

Postcards announcing the show arrived this week from the printer. They look great! We used the quilt that was awarded "Best Use of Color" in our last show on the postcard. The cards will go out in the mail to guilds in Georgia and the Carolinas in May. We will also send "stacks" to our vendors so they can give them to their customers over the summer.
(We used postcardprinting.com or these cards and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience.)

Starting to get busy....
Just a bit over 7 months until the show. While that may seem like a long time those of you who have put on shows in the past know this it is time to get busy!

Our advertising postcards went to the printer today. Each year we have such wonderful quilts but not as big an attendance as we should so this year we are really going to put the word out and see if we can't double (yes, double!) the attendance from our last show. First step was getting out postcards professionally done. So far the printer we are using has been really good to work with...I'll let you know!
Also our vendor coordinator says the contracts for the vendors went out this week. She has verbal commitments from several and it looks like we will have a good variety. (Because what is a quilt show without quilting stuff to carry home!)
